Visitor Visa

  • Canada welcomes millions of tourists every year; more than 35 million people travel there for a variety of reasons, including to see loved ones or take advantage of the opportunities it offers. You may need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) if you intend to travel to Canada for a brief period of time, unless you are from a nation that is "visa exempt."
  • The procedure of applying for a Canadian visitor visa may seem simple, but many applicants make the error of trying to do it alone without consulting an immigration lawyer or consultant. However, if an application is not adequately prepared, there is actually a greater chance that it will be rejected when it comes to TRV. The requirements for approval are very strict. Remarkably, the most frequent explanation for rejecting an application
  • Our advisors at Choice Matters Immigration Inc. can greatly improve your chances of having your TRV application approved.
  • What is Visitor Visa?

A visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document that IRCC puts in your passport. It shows that you meet the requirements needed to travel to Canada. A visa officer has discretion to issue you a single-entry visa or multiple entry visa, and decide how long it will be valid for.

    How long you can stay?

Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada. At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months. If that’s the case, they’ll put the date you need to leave by in your passport.

    Who can get a visa?

You must meet some basic requirements to get a visitor visa.

    You must:

    • Have a valid Travel document
    • be in good health
    • have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
    • Demonstrate to an immigration officer that you have connections to your homeland that will enable you to return home such as a job, home, financial assets or family
    • Prove to an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
    • have enough money for your stay
    • May also need a medical Exam and letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.

Some people are not allowed to enter Canada who have:

    • Records of criminal activity
    • Violated human rights
    • organized crime

    Work permits

An official document granted by the Canadian government, a Canadian work permit enables foreign nationals to work lawfully in Canada for a predetermined amount of time. It is a short-term permit that is typically job-specific, allowing you to work for a single company and in a specific capacity.

You typically need a legitimate job offer from a Canadian employer who is prepared to sponsor your work permit application in order to be eligible for a Canadian work permit. Before granting a post to a foreign worker, the company might have to prove that they have tried to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

    Types of Canadian Work Permits

    • Employer Specific Work Permit- Employer-specific work permits only let you work for the employer who made you the job offer.
    • Post-Graduate Work Permit- To work in Canada after you graduate, you need a work permit. Graduates of certain designated learning institutions are eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP).
    • International Mobility Program Work Permits (IMP)- In some circumstances, such as through international trade agreements or as part of reciprocal agreements, employers do not have to go through the rigorous process of hiring foreign workers since these work permits are excluded from the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
    • Open Work Permits-These permits allow you to work for any employer in Canada, except for certain jobs that require a labor market assessment.
    • Bridging open work permit for permanent residence applicants- A bridging open work permit (BOWP) lets you keep working while you wait for the results of your permanent residence application. You may be eligible if you applied for permanent residence under some specific programs.
